Few people actually know what an anthropologist is and what she does. What few famous ones we have (Levi-Strauss, Paul Farmer, Margaret Mead) are often celebrated for their extra-anthropological accomplishments (being French, doctoring, talking about sex publicly).

The most famous prime-time anthropologist is racist, essentialist, exoticizing, and often just plain rude and lacks social skills. Dr. Temperance Brennen (transversely, Dr. Reichs) is the worst anthropologist ever.
